Client request to design a garden for their sloping backyard with easy access and privacy screening.
The two large trees were planted by the owner when the house was built. While these trees provided good shade, the plants below might not receive enough sunlight to thrive. Therefore plant selection had to take into consideration the amount of sunlight available with a choice of plants that could grow under these conditions.

Design
The backyard space was not big but good enough to add some tall plants to create a privacy screening from the neighbors. Together with the selection of shade plants, it will make the backyard cooler.
The floating slabs add interest when walking through the garden, also to provide some hardscape element into the design. Overall, the concept of the garden is to bring you closer to nature.

Progress
When work began on site, the biggest challenge was transferring materials, especially tall trees, as there was no machinery access to the back. All materials had to be manually transferred from the front, through the narrow sidewalk, and down to the backyard.
However, with the garden completed, all the hard work was worthwhile.
